Rental car in Siena

I've read all the posts on "to drive or not to drive" in Tuscany. My husband and I would like to rent a car in Siena for at least 2-3 days to get around the countryside, but I can't find an easy way to do that online. Do we have to rent in Florence, or is it possible to pick up a car for a couple of days in Siena? Also, we're looking for hotel ideas (affordable without being too spare) in Siena. Thanks all!

Kara,
Siena has a Hertz, Avis, and Europcar. Look at Cannon d'Oro for hotel.

We also picked up our car in Siena through AuroEurope and had no problems. I would recommend though that you either rent a car with GPS or bring your own as we did. We found it to be absolutely essential! As for hotel ideas, have you considered an agriturismo? I can recommend Agriturismo Marciano in Siena. It's a fantastic place (as others on this forum will agree) & since you'll have a rental car, it's very practical to stay at an agriturismo. You can read the reviews on Trip Advisor but it's really a wonderful experience. Have a great trip.

Kara, You could also get a Travel Agent to arrange the car rental for you. I've found that they can sometimes get a better deal than if I was booking on my own. Cheers!

I rent through AutoEurope. They are a consolidator and can get you a good price. A GPS is strongly recommended. I will second Sheron's suggestion of staying at Agriturismo Marciano. The price is very reasonable - we paid 85 euros per night last September. It is fantastic, and staying there was a dream. Breakfast is included and their optional dinners were the best food we had in 3 weeks in Italy...and we had a lot of really good food! It was one of the highlights of our trip. I can't wait to go back there.
