We are going to be staying in Montepulciano for 4 days and want to rent a car to do day trips from there. Where do you rent a car? Are there any agencies in Montepulciano or do we rent from Chiusi by the train?

We rented in Chiusi to go to Montepulciano. The agency wasn't exactly close to the train station, but we walked there without problem. Know that finding an agency that's open on Sunday probably won't be possible for pick-ups or returns.

We are hoping to pick one up at the train station when we get there on a Thursday and return it to the same station on Monday morning to get the train to CT. I notice that there are two locations by the train station. One for hertz and one for Avis, both through Auto Europe Rental. Is one closer than the other?

The Hertz office is about 50 meters from the Chiusi train station. The Avis office is across the bridge.
