Okay--You guys are wearing me down re train travel vs car rental. May travel by train now from Nice to Vernazza and then on to La Spezia. Then by car. Does anyone know off hand, if the major car rental places are located in La Spezia and if so, where in relation to train station.

We rented a car in La Spezia this summer through Eurocar and had to take a taxi from the station to the rental company. It was only about 10E. I did not see any car rentals at the station or in the immediate area. Also, the taxi stand had no taxis when we arrived, but after waiting about 15 min, we noticed there was a phone right there just for calling the taxis. Once we picked that up, one arrived in less than 2 min.
We returned our car in La Spezia in Sept at Europcar and the only downside was the distance to the train station. We had to take a taxi as the train station was on the opposite side of town.
