Rental car in Florence

We are finding it difficult to select a rental car in Florence because of wide differences in insurance policies. Has anyone found a good solution?

Have your car arranged at Via Palagio degli Spini, the complex near the airport, reached from downtown by taxi. Suggest zero-deductible collision, being aware of ZTL issues.

In addition to www.AutoEurope.com also try www.AutoEurope.eu.

AutoEurope is a consolidator therefore they have deals with various major rent a car brands operating in Italy (or Europe) such as Avis-Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Locauto (part of Enterprise), SicilyByCar, Maggiore (part of Avis-Budget), Sixt. Choose the best that fits your needs. After renting from Sixt in Oregon my wife now wants to rent only their cars (it’s a German multinational rental car company that has mostly BMW and Mercedes), but just choose whatever you want.

AutoEurope.com and AutoEurope.eu are actually from the same broker consolidator company (Based in Portland, Maine) but the latter is their European website. Somehow both prices and offers widely differ in the two websites, so check both and choose the solution that fits your needs best. They even have another website (www.Kemwel.com) from Kemwel, which AutoEurope acquired years ago (but the old website is still in place). Check that website too. They are all the same company, but different prices. You need to check all to see the best deal available.

If you want to be fully covered with no deductible to worry about, under Coverage Option (also called Excess Coverage in the .eu site) “choose the “No Deductible”option (in the .com website), or “Refundable Excess” (in the .eu website).
When you select the pick up (or drop off location), select CITY NAME (ALL LOCATIONS), so in your case select FLORENCE ALL LOCATIONS. That way you can see the cheapest option in that city.

I’ve almost always used AutoEurope in Italy. Great service.
