Rental car in Florence

We are traveling to Italy in May. We are spending 3 nights in Florence and are planning on renting a car for 3 days and driving in Tuscany for 3 days. When we get back to Florence we will be taking the train to Venice. I have read several post about renting a car and the best ways to save money and avoiding the city center. I have played with the locations and the best price I can find is $329 for 3 days and the location pick up is the downtown office. I found this rate on Auto Europe. This is the non deductible rate. All of the rates seem really high. I have paid more for rentals cars here in the US this last year. So before booking I wanted to see if I am doing something wrong or prices are just higher then I was expecting.

Rates are high this year and the rate you got is actually very good
We have a 4 day rental automatic pick up Florence, drop in Lucca first week of May for 430ish
I tracked rates for MONTHS til I saw that and grabbed it I think early Jan

I doubt you’ll find a better rate, I’d book it and AutoEurope are always cancelable/ refundable so you can book but then keep checking, if you happen to see a lower rate, cancel and rebook

They are high, and Italy rentals are much higher than, say, France or Germany, where you start seeing savings when you reach the monthly rental mark.

Prices in Tuscany last summer were very high. I cancelled my Puglia road trip last June because the cheapest car I could find was $150/day with a company that had terrible reviews. This summer I'm doing three road trips in Spain and Portugal and just sucking it up and paying the prices. It's either that or don't see the parts that you can't get to easily with public transportation.

Perhaps ask the hotel if they know someone (and they likely will) who will be your car and driver and get a quote

Thanks everyone for the reply’s. I booked the car at that rate. But will check periodically to see if it’s lower.
