rental car in Cortona

I personally avoid small companies because I feel I have more recourse with intl companies I already regularly do business with. Where are you before and after Cortona? It could be more efficient to rent there.

If you want options the closest multi-vendor car rental places I know of in the area are in Arezzo - several rental places near the train station and easy exit from the city into the country - or outside the Chiusi-Chianciano Terme train station.

These places are about the same functional distance from Cortona - Arezzo north and Chuisi south - so it might depend on where you want to go. Chuisi is closer to Pienza and Montepulciano if that's what you're thinking. By the time you're in Camucia you could hop the train to either of these places for more options if you're hesitant.

The usual driving warnings:
- Every driver needs an IDP before you go.
- Read up on ZTLs before you go and right before you visit a specific town.
- Add at least 25% to Google drive times for rural driving.

I always opt for the maximum insurance so that it's worry free. It's more but for 3 days I''d consider it worth it.
