I am renting a car in Firenze on Borgo Ognissanti near our apartment in Oltrarno. The rental car agency will close at 7:30PM. I will not be back to Firenze until later that evening. Does anyone know if Hertz, Alamo, Enterprise or Budget will allow me to drop the car and deposit the keys in a drop box?

Yes. But extra charges may apply and you must make prior arrangements.
The rental car return for Avis, Budget, Hertz, is the Garage Europa on Borgo Ognissanti.
The rental car return for Europcar is the Garage Excelsior on Via Palazzuolo (the next street parallel to Borgo Ognissanti.

Both are now part of the same corporate group.
They primarily work with Europcar, Hertz, Avis-Budget. However I noticed the best deals are often with Europcar or Hertz.
Be aware that the rental car companies are often local independent franchisers, so not the same as Avis USA.
I’m not sure about who the franchiser is for Alamo/National or Enterprise. They are not big in Italy, so I would stick with Europcar (the largest) or Hertz (just as large).
If you need directions on how to return and avoid the ZTL ping me later. The ZTL does not operate at night, except for Thu, Fri, Sat nights from April to the end of Oct.

Also remember that you are responsible for the car until it's checked in the next day. This means if anyone damages it after you've left it you're responsible for the repairs. I suggest taking out full insurances or returning it during opening hours either that day or the next.
