Hello
I am spending 2 nights in Siena then would like to rent a car to see the hill towns of central Italy. Preferably I'd like to rent a car from Siena, do a short stay in Orvieto and then drop off the car in Rome airport. Does anyone know if this is possible, or can I only rent a car from a major nearby city such as Florence?

Try Autoeurope http://www.autoeurope.com/ they are a broker. Siena has Hertz, Avis, and Europcar.

Here's how to find out: go to the rental company websites, input Siena as pickup location and Rome airport as dropoff (they will all have an office at Rome airport) and see if the website says "okay, no problem", it will tell you if they don't have an office in Siena.

I rented from Avis (central)in Siena and returned in Florence after driving everywhere. It was great and no issues with Avis. you will enjoy this better than public transport in Tuscany.

I drove into Siena and dropped in Orvieto.I saw many rental agencies on Siena.In Orvieto the Hertz Office is accross the street from the train station.The Avis office recently closed.

My wife and I were in Siena last year and rented a car from Europcar and drove the Chianti Road to Florence and dropped off there with no problem. FYI, in Siena, at the rental office I asked for a car with navigation and the girl just laughed and said "Oh no, not in Siena!!!"
