I have 2 questions - We will rent a car as we leave Bari, but I see there are 2 places to do so. One at the airport, and one downtown. We are staying in Bari Vecchia, if that helps. Which makes more sense?
We are returning the car in Arezzo, again I see 2 places. We are staying in Cortona, so which is more convenient to get back there?
Plan on using Autoeurope, and Hertz are the locations.

If you use Hertz, in Bari rent here. It's near the Bari Central station.
If you return in Arezzo, Hertz has only one location and it is here. It's not in the city center, it's located at a car dealership (probably a franchise), so to get back to the station you'll need a taxi.
Where are you going after Cortona? Maybe, depending on your next destination, it might make sense to drive and return the car somewhere else.

From Cortona, we are going to Rome for a couple of days, then fly home. Train seems easier.
