Renewal of Wedding Vows, Also.

We are going in December. We would very much like to make
or renewal special. However, I am Jewish and my hubby is
Lutherian. What is the chance to find someone to renew in
from of the Famous Fountain?????
Our first wedding it rained and it was suppose to be
outside, I really want to make this a special time.

I'm betting Trevi, in Rome.

I think Sharon's suggestion is very reasonable. However, if you really want an official, I'd start asking around at your local place of worship (if you have one) and see if anyone perhaps has contacts in Italy.

June,

I don't know if this anniversay is a special one or not (5,10,15,20,25 or such), so I don't know whether you really want a Service-type thing or would just reading the vows together do? That way the Jew/Lutheran situation would not be a problem.

If you were doiing it in this contry I'd suggest the Unitarian/Universalist Association. They would be willing to do something of that sort. Clergy of other denominations might also be willing. You might check to see if where you are going has a Unitarian church. One in your area may know or know how to find out for you.

I still think in complicated situations, reading the vows yourself is a very good way of doing it.

There are some clegy (and denomiations) who insist that the "religious" part be in a holy place. And many consider out in God's Creation not that sort of place. I don't.

I hope this helps you.

If you want to get married in front of the fountain of Trevi, I would rethink that plan as there are always to many many people there that it would not be very romantic!!!

I agree Mark. While the Fontana di Trevi is beautiful, the place is a zoo most of the time. The piazza itself is tiny. If you can find someone to renew your vows there--great, but don't be suprised to have to other tourist a mere elbows length away eating a sandwich or something. That is definately a high traffic zone.....

Not to mention constant harrassment from flower/picture vendors...the only place in Rome I found the street sellers to be especially stubborn and annoying.
