“Relaxing” food and wine experience on Tuscan farm or estate

Hi there! My husband and I are headed to Italy in late May, for 18 days. We want to book a 1 day food and wine tour in Tuscany, However, we want it to be a relaxed day without a lot of running around. A stop at a pretty little village would be nice, and a scenic farm or estate in the hills would be great. We’d rather spend our “food and wine”day at (mostly) one location with indoor and outdoor areas to hang out and enjoy ourselves. Wine tasting, food pairing, and a nice Italian farm-to-table lunch would be perfect! I’d love some recommendations!

Your options will depend on your mode of transportation. If you have to rely on public transportation or a tour, your options will be more limited. We had a car and could travel throughout the region.

We actually used Castillo di Verrazzano as our home base for our wonderful stay in Tuscany. While we were there, we booked their food and wine tasting and winery tour. We had breakfast and walked the grounds until the tour started at 11:00. The tour was great and we began the food and wine tasting at 12:30. First course was an appetizer with Prosecco. Then the pasta dish was paired with their Chianti Classico, followed by the main dish and their Chianti Classico Reserva and their Super Tuscan. Dessert was biscotti served with Vin Santo. They also served us their olive oil and balsamic vinegar, which was outstanding. We didn't finish until 4:00, a true Italian meal. We walked down to our room to recover, then drove into Greve that evening to visit their Christmas fair (we were there just before Christmas 2015).

Taking a relaxing tour would be great, I'm glad you plan to make a day of it. By taking a tour, you can enjoy yourself and not have to worry about driving. We were certainly in no condition to drive when we finished!
