Regional Trains from Vence to Florence to Rome.

Me and my friend want to travel from Venice all the way down to Rome using local (regioanl) trains and not pre bookings. Does anyone know how much the regional trains are from Venice to Florence and to Rome could be? I also dont mind if we need to stop off at smaller towns for a night here and there, were not trying to be flexible.

I don't even know if they have regional trains doing the Venice to Florence run. You don't need to book ahead of time, if that's what you're worried about. You can take the high speed train between the two and buy your tickets at the station. The regional train from Florence to Rome will cost 19.25 euros. It takes almost 4 hours for this trip. IF you buy the high speed train it will cost 45 euros and take just over an hour. Donna

It's really only about a 8hr trip by Regionale train. You will change trains a few times but if you look carefully at the train schedules on www.trenitalia.com, you will see the Regionale trains. If you put in a date that is only about 2-3 days out, the fares will display. At minimum, you could do Venezia S.L./Bologna and then Bologna/Florence. Then, you look at Florence/Chiusi and finally Chiusi/Rome. You do need to enter the Italian names for the train stations. If you want more frequent stops, you can do that as well. Overall, you should be able to do all of this for under 45E. If you put in Venice/Rome, you won't see the Regionale train runs. Note, however, that if you are open to being locked into a discounted ticket with a firm date and departure time, you can get tickets now on a high-speed for as low as 9E. Some runs have no train changes either. 3hrs 45min. If the 9E tickets are gone, it goes to 19E and then to 29E until these are gone. I see some 19E tickets for some dates in October. Your choice.
