Regional train to Trastevere Station to Tram 8

Arriving at FCO. Confused on ticketing. I need a one way ticket to Rome City center.

Do I buy 1 ticket to take regional train to Trastevere Station. Get off. Then buy another ticket to get on Tram 8 which takes me to my hotel? Or do I buy 1 ticket in total and then I have 100 minutes from validation (at FCO).

Also, do you have to validate ticket every time you get on new bus or Tram within the 100 minute timeframe or just once to initialize the ticket?

And do you have to validate to get off or out of the station?

And do you have to sign the ticket or keep the ticket after leaving the station?

You'd take the train "Roma Ostiense" (7 stops and 27 minutes) and get off at Trastevere stop.

This is the way we typically arrive in Rome. You get off the train at Trastevere station (you take the stairs down to go uder the tracks if needed). You then need a separate ticket for the tram 8. You by that ticket from any shop that has big T sign. The ticket office at the FCO train station sells both the train and tram tickets. To find the Tram 8, you walk out of the train station out to the main street and tram 8 will be on the left. You head tothe center island to board the tram heading into Transtevere. (Tram 3 will be to the right of the station.)

Thank you. This is helpful.

Regarding ticket validation, do you just validate the ticket one time when boarding or do you also need to do a 2nd validation at the end? I don't want to get fined for missing a validation.

You validate the ticket for the train from FCO to Trastevere station at the FCO station BEFORE BOARDING THE TRAIN (unless you buy with the app).

The tram 8 ticket is a separate ticket that you validate on the tramway IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU BOARD.

There is no validation at the end of the ride.
