Regional train tickets as part of a journey that includes fast train

Just curious why my printed ticket for a trip that includes both fast and regional service includes a bar code on the fast trains but the portion for the regional train states 'not good for travel" although the final destination of the regional train appears on the app.

Also, do these tickets need to be stamped / validated prior to travel?

Thanks

The reason it says "Not valid for travel" is due the fact that the ticket currently, right now, has not been validated.

The ticket will be automatically validated at the departure time of the scheduled train you booked... So you just have to wait for the departure of the train. And on that moment the ticket will be "Valid".

Or you can also manually validate it right now trough the app, but this is not adviced due the fact that at any time you can change the departure time and date of the train but only if the ticket has not been validated, as once it becomes "Valid for Travel", it cannot be changed.

I see. SO I do not have to do anything. Just show up and board the train...?

I gave you an answer for your second portion of the trip, the regional train.

You don't say where you are travelling from and what 'fast' train you are talking about.

For your second portion, the regional train, you don't need to do anything. Except in the case your 'fast train' would have a delay. In that case, you need to avoid the automatic validation of your second portion, the regional train, and change the timing of this latter trip. This can all be done in the Trenitalia app.

In addition to what Windyram said, if I remember correctly, whien the conductor checks your ticket on the regional train, you may need to show them the QR code. I may be mistaken, but I think I remember the "not valid for travel" message appeared on a payment receipt screen on my phone and then I would need to advance (or maybe scroll down) to a screen with the actual ticket and QR code.

We used trains a lot in Italy last May, and we had two trips that included a fast train with reserved seats and a regional train. Our regional train tickets also said "not good for travel". We used them, of course, and it was not a problem. You do not have to validate any tickets prior to boarding. That is a thing of the past. Because I worry about losing power on my phone, etc., I also printed our tickets. Sometimes conductors would ask to see our tickets but many times they did not.
