I know that Tuscany is Chianti country, and frascati is a wine from Lazio (Rome), but are there wines from Lombardia (Milano), Veneto (Venice), Liguria (Cinque Terre)? Are there any red wines that are recommended in Rome?
What about foods from the area? I remember that Rick Steves wrote that pesto, anchovies and foccacia is especially good in Liguria. (I know that Rick wrote that vino delle Cinque Terre D.O.L. is served in Cinque Terre.)
And everyone mentions pizza in Naples.
I think Rick mentioned Filetti di Baccala` (but I have 7 dinners in Rome and will want to eat something other than cod each night).
So, I would like to know of other regional specialties.
