I am looking for sources of information about Reggio, Calabria? I wonder why Rick has not written about the area and I would like a good Rick-like source. Any ideas?
This is not a very touristy area in general. try rough guides or lonely planet guides for ref.
Reggio Calabria (one word) is near the jumpimg off place for Sicily from mainland Italy. The South (what is referred to as the "Mezzogiorno" or midday land), is not heavily touristed and is only skimmed by Rick and treated lightly by others. There are many who rave about Calabria, Basilicata and Puglia (the Toe,Arch and Heel of the Italian "boot"). Web searches of each name will likely turn up volumes of info about the area.
Dan, I'd suggest that either the Lonely Planet or Rough Guide for Italy.
Dan, Lonely Planet, and Let's Go as a weak second.
Many Europeans go to Regio, because there are some good deals on cheap accomodations.
For my money, Puglia is a lot better, and offers so much more to see and do, for the same low prices.
