Reggia di Caserta

I'll be driving through Caserta in June, and it would seem a shame not to stop and see the palace. However, I could probably only spare about two hours to see it, possibly three if I got an early start that day. Would it be worth it if I only have that much time? Should I prioritize one aspect of the palace to make sure I see the best? I've read that it really takes four hours to see it. Thanks.

I was just there last week; don't miss it! There is a convenient parking lot adjacent to the palace called Tetris Parking. The palace itself can be visited easily within your time frame. There are about 15 or 20 rooms open to the public out of 1200 total), and there is an English language audio-guide, but each room has a sign in Italian and English telling you about each room and its furnishings. You could stroll through that part of the palace in a half hour to an hour, depending on how many photos you take or how much you like to dwell on the Baroque paintings and furnishings in the rooms. Then you can tour the amazing gardens. There is a watercourse punctuated by fountains and statues, culminating in a fantastic artificial waterfall and the charming English garden. If you were to walk the whole way, it takes about 45.minutes to get all the way out to the end of the garden. But there is a minibus you can take to the waterfall for 2 euros fifty roundtrip. What I did was to take the minibus down to the waterfall, then poke around the English garden for a while, and then I chose to walk back to the palace to get a better look at the statues along the way. (For reference, I got there at 3 pm and exited at 6 pm,and didn't feel like I cheated myself at all.)
