We will be in Rome with our 12 and 14 year-old daughters in late June. I'm looking for any tour that might be highly recommended for kids this age, and for us. I've found Localers tours in Paris that look fun, of Montmartre and the Left Bank, and a Fat Tire bike tour of Paris. Does anyone have anything to recommend for Rome? This is their first trip to Europe, and they are not going to enjoy a museum or a lot of deep history unless it's made accessible for their ages.
What types of tours are you interested in? I know the Vatican museums offers a kid friendly tour:

Other than private companies there aren't official tours specifically for kids that I know of. At 12 and 14 they should be fine on a regular tour. The information given is enough to be interesting but doesn't get into the minute details that some other tours do. Let us know specifically what you're looking for so we can make suggestions.

For four people, a guided tour of the Colosseo, Forum and Palatino might be in order. For less than the price of 4 tickets on a Walks of Italy tour (and they do a nice job!) you can take a private guide for the 4 of you. Try Sonia Tavoletta, [email protected]. She charges Euro 50-55/hour, I believe, and it is just your group so she can focus on your interests.
