Recommended reasonable hotels in Sirmione On Lake Garda within walking distance of old town.

Because none of Rick Steve's books review hotels anywhere on Lake Garda, i would appreciate a recommendation of a reasonably priced hotel fir 2 people on the lake and within walking distance of downtown Sirmione fir June. Thanks!

hey hey pamcapella
not much in rick's book about the lake. another post about "reasonably priced" meaning, 500-600E/night? how many nights, amenities.
you are in high summer season, in a very touristy town with crowds, other towns to look at? prices have skyrocketed really high nowdays everywhere. good luck

Pam, do you really want to stay at Sirmione? Sirmione is the most overrated town around the lake and it is also the most crowded town. Sirmione is a good decision if you want to only enjoy the comfort of your hotel, but it is the worst destination if you want to explore the lake.
Depending on what you want to do, when you will come there and how many days you have, I would recommend staying at Garda Town or Bardolino. You can reach this towns easily by bus from Verona, and from both towns you easily can explore all of the lake by ferry or bus.
If you need recommendationd about any hotel there I can help you, because I know all around Lake Garda.

Sirmione is pretty, but also overcrowded and overpriced, especially in June when you plan to go. I never stayed in a hotel there. I'd rather visit it from somewhere else around the lake. It was still a pain to find parking close to the center when I visited in June or July (I've also visited in early October on a weekday and it was ok then), but if you don't plan to drive you can visit by ferry from somewhere else.

My favorite side of the lake is on the northern, more mountainous part of the lake.
