Seeking recommendations for mid-priced hotels and B&Bs in Sicily? Specifically Palmero, Agrigento, Siracusa, Taormina. Thank you!
hey hey pegb123
wow you are really cutting it close. don't know what "mid-price" means to you.
what are your dates, budget in euros, how many days per town/village, how many people, maybe busy and it's easter, any amenities needed (lift/elevator if many steps/stairs, A/C., breakfast, cancellation policies, will you have a car (IDP is mandatory in italy. aaa.com/IDP or train only. good luck and happy travels
aloha
Agree with the Princess!!!
We would be happy to give names but you need to offer a lot more info...
Is mid-price 200 euro a night? Or 300 euro?
I can tell you right now that both those figures are low for Taormina but again, when?
****Goodness, I just realized that you are talking about NEXT MONTH!!!
Will you be there during Holy Week???
You are REALLY cutting it close!! You're kidding, right?/
Here's a question: Will you be driving a rental car in or near Agrigento?
If so, I can give you the name of where we stayed last here; I think that you might consider it mid-priced--maybe 250 euro or so per night.. Lovely, small rural inn in a historic farm renovated by the architect/owners;
they serve dinner on request and rooms are lovely. Short drive to the Temples and to Scale di Turchi:
We are arriving in Palermo on 04/21/25 (by rental car) for two nights then headed to Agrigento for one night. Next day is Siracusa for two nights and then two nights in Taormina. After that, we head to Puglia. We would like accommodations in the 150.00 to 200.00 range.
Yikes! Didn’t know we were cutting it that close! Would appreciate any suggestions.
If “arriving in Palermo by rental car” means flying into the Palermo airport & then renting a car to drive into the city, most people would advise against this. Palermo is famously difficult to drive & park in.
I enjoyed my stay at the following places in 2018.
Palermo: B&B delle Vittorie
Agrigento: B&B PortAtenea
Siracusa ( Ortigia) : Domus Mariae Albergo
located on Via Vittorio Veneto 76.
Note that the Domus Mariae Benessere Hotel is across the street at Via Vittorio Veneto 89.
It’s the same website for both but you’ll need to specify which accommodation you want.
When I was there the rate included a delicious breakfast at the Hotel Domus Mariae Benessere. My room had a small balcony and it faced the beautiful turquoise sea.
Wishing you a great trip!
P.S. I did not have a car so make sure you check for parking availability.
Thank you to all for taking time to reply to my email. Most appreciated! I was researching and booking for hours yesterday.
If you are still searching, recommend these accommodations from our trip in Fall, 2022:
Taormina - Casa Cifali
Agrigento - B&B Terazze di Montelusa
Ortigia - Charme Hotel Henry’s House
Palermo - Santuzza Maison de Charme
Don’t miss the Valley of the Temples at dusk. It is magical!
I stayed at the Domus Mariae (the one facing the sea that was run by nuns) on one of my first trips to Sicily; it was probably around 2003. We thought it was a lovely hotel...good choice!
Ask if you need any help for Puglia!!
You have a wonderful trip in store!
Pick up your rental after your two days in Palermo, I did drive into Palermo as part of a larger trip, my next visit I wont drive into Palermo again, if that's a good enough hint.
@mjstedy is right. Driving in Palermo is a congested nightmare. We used Hertz in Sicily and returned our car on arrival to Palermo. You should be able to pick up a car there, in town, as well and avoid having to go to the airport.
