Recommended lodging for Rome

We will spend two nights in Rome on our way to Sicily. Have been to all major attractions. Just want to enjoy Rome with good food and walks. Any recommendations for affordable lodging? Any suggestions for preferred areas to stay in?

Try Hotel Lunetta. We are staying there this summer. It was a recommendation by someone that stayed there. Not sure what you mean by affordable as this was 380 euros per night.

I stayed at Hotel Smeraldo and enjoyed both the hotel and its location. Easy walk to major sights. Bus and taxi stand nearby.

We stayed at Hotel Fontanella Borghese several times as the location was great. You could walk to The Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Nuvona, even Vatican City. We were always pleased as it was very nice, but not over the top. It is our understanding that they shut down for a while during the pandemic, and we're not sure if they have opened up again. The Hotel Du Torri, which is close to Nuvona, was operated by the same nice folks at one time was and may still be run by them.

I’m wondering the same! We ste Rome one night before departing for Florence! Doing private tour in 1 day! We’ve been before, but adult kids want to see touristy sights! Where should we stay that close to “action”( we will have private driver pick up for tour) that’s a clean hotel w maybe rooftop bar/ nice Scenery that’s not $500 a night and has more than a double bed! ?

We were in Rome a month ago and stayed in a lovely apartment, but there were three of us so it worked. But usually we stay at

Great location, large clean rooms, appreciated the free Netflix, and easy walk to Spanish Steps, and all the sights. Reasonably priced, great hosts, and nice breakfast on the covered terrace. Ice-cold AC is a must during summer months. We were very comfortable here and many friends have stayed here and thanked us for the recommendation.

We always stay in Airbnbs in Italy and have had wonderful experiences for very little money. We enjoy being in the areas where the Italian people live, having a full kitchen and washer, and having someplace that feels like home. Most of the places we have stayed in have been under $75/night and have been wonderful.

Stay somewhere different ! A monastery/convent ! Actually they are places mostly run by nuns originally for pilgrims. You don’t need to be a pilgrim, Roman Catholic, or even Christian to stay there. Good, clean accomdations at reasonable prices. We booked thru monasterystays.com
