Recommended guide for Vesuvius hike?

Can anyone recommend a good guide that will guide a hike of Vesuvius? I am bringing a group to explore the volcano after a nine day trip to amalfi coast but would like a knowledgeable person to lead us.

Personal experience: We were in Sorrento for several nights and wanted to see Pompei and Vesuvio. We went to a travel agency in town and found a guided bus tour. We are NOT bus tour people, but wanted to see both sights.

So happy we did this. Pompei needed a guide, Vesuvio does not. All you do is walk up to the rim and look down on Naples, and try to find Pompei... I personally don't see a need for a guide. Read up on what happened during the explosion and then just enjoy the walk. We saw people in sandals, and women in heels...yep, street shoes with high heels. (can't tell you if those people made it all the way to the top, can't remember!)

This being said, perhaps check with a travel agency in the town you will be in and see if they have a tour you can take, or they might be able to recommend a guide for you.

it's very dry and dusty, so make sure you bring some water, and a jacket, it gets chilly at the top. The hike itself is not difficult if you are in OK condition.
