I just returned from a 10 day trip to Rome and Florence and took a day trip to Naples and Pompeii with Gaetano Manfredi. It was such a fantastic experience I wanted to share. Gaetano had a local from Napoli, Diego, pick us up at the train station and drive us to Pompeii while giving us a history of Naples. We spent about 3-4 hours touring Pompeii with Gaetano and learned from a master. He made the city come alive for us and customized based on our preferences. Then Diego drove us to Naples where we had a fantastic lunch by the water and a more thorough tour of the city. Pompeii has been a bucket list item for me and it couldn't have been better. Gaetano was very communicative and we knew all prices and agenda up front. He also has tours of the Amalfi coast we want to do when we return. I'd like some more information especially for comparative pricing. We're tentatively looking for someone to pick us up in Amalfi, take us to Pompeii and then to a train station to Rome. An experienced guide would be a bonus.
