recommended accomodations in Torino and Genoa

HI, I am a woman travelling on my own and looking for recommendations in both Torino and Genova in July. I am looking for a clean, safe, quiet and comfortable place, reasonably priced. Thanks.

You should specify what you mean by "reasonably priced." I was in Torino over 10 years ago. At that time, I very much enjoyed my stay at Hotel Roma e Rocca Cavour http://www.romarocca.it/eng/hotel.html The room was huge (they have three sizes, and I stayed in the largest one), and the weekend rates are even better than the regular ones. The location is very good, right at the edge of the center and near the train station. When I stayed there, I remember telling people that it was a bit of "dilapidated grandeur," a relic of a time when "train station hotels" were glamorous. I haven't researched whether the hotel has fallen down, been upgraded, or stayed the same, so I'd check on Trip Advisor before booking. Assuming it's as least as nice as when I stayed, I'd definitely stay there again. Never been to Genova, sorry.

A few years ago, we stayed at Hotel Cairoli in Genova. It might be just what you're looking for.

Giselle, just be aware that there are areas in Genova that you do not want to be walking in at nightVia di Pre is one of those areas. I stayed at the Best Western City Hotel several years ago. It is a business hotel, fairly characterless, but very nice, clean, large-enough rooms. It is close to Piazza Ferrari which is perfectly safe to walk around in. Wherever you stay just ask your concierge if there is anywhere you should stay away from.

We just arrived in Torino (Turin) and found a fabulous hotel to stay at called Hotel Vitoria (http://www.hotelvictoria-torino.com/index_en.html. In our minds, it is everything a trailer is looking for. It is located about 5 blocks east of the main square about 500 meters away, and close to the Egyptian Museum which is a must. It is very clean with a great spa and a caring staff. We ordered a salad and split an entree from room service. The salads were great and generous and delivery took 10 minutes if not quicker. Our room charges which included a delightful breakfast were 165 Euros. Everything thing was within walking distance so this was an added benefit. Charlie
