Recommendations: Vatican Tour

Our cousins will be in Rome in September and are very interested in a Vatican tour. Francesca Caruso is currently not doing Vatican tours. Can anyone recommend a good tour guide? They understand that this is a very popular year for tourists to the Vatican.

The Vatican Museum has its own guided tours — you will see the option when booking tickets.

Private tour operators include Walks of Italy and Through Eternity

Yes, I believe they are aware of Vatican sponsored tours, but were wondering about quality private guides.

Both hubby and I as well as our neighbor have used Through Eternity Tours. It was great having the ticketing and skip the lines access. Their guides are very knowledgeable. Just leave yourself ample time to find your group's meetup point.

A point of clarification: Any potential visitor who plans ahead can buy a ticket to the Vatican Museums online and skip the ticket line. No one skips the security line. The significant advantage (one hopes) of taking a tour or arranging a private guide is the information imparted and the help provided in navigating the mosh pit that is the Vatican Museums.

We will be using The Tour Guy for our tour of Vatican/Sistine/St. Peter's on April 8. My wife and I have done it all on our own before, but we'll be with cousins who've never been there. It's only 3 hours, skip the line, and as busy as it's supposed to be with Jubilee 2025--especially being near Easter--we thought it best to take this route. Hope it's good!
