Our plane is arriving Sun morn Sept 19th at 7:15am at FCO and was wondering the best way to get to our hotel around the Vatican. I was hoping to get to the hotel and drop our bags off and then head back out to go to church service over off the San Giovanni metro stop by 10am. We would get a free transfer to the hotel from the tour we are on but it runs at 7am and then again at 10am so looks like we will miss it. Thanks for the help.

You best arrangement will be a taxi. The fare is fixed at 40E. You could take the Leonard Express but you would still have a long taxi ride from the Termini to your hotel.

I highly suggest Romecabs (www.romecabs.com). They are very reputable and reliable. The cost is 45 euros which is comparable to a taxi. They literally meet you outside the doors after you get your luggage and are extremely courteous and professional. I was worried that they wouldn't be there waiting for us because our flight from NY arrived 5 hours late but sure enough, they monitored our flight arrival time & was there holding a sign for us. The car was a Mercedes and it was comfortable and air conditioned and the driver was very friendly. You can book them on-line and they don't require pre-payment. I had read in Rick's book that you have to be careful when using a taxi that it has the "official seal" on it & by using Romecabs I didn't have to worry about being ripped off by an unofficial taxi.
