Two of us are considering hiring a private driver to take us from Rome hotel to Siena Hotel in October. Can anyone recommend a transfer service for this trip?

Or fast train to Florence then change to a regional to Siena

Rome Cabs is a car service and not a taxi company despite the name. We've used them a number of times to and from the airport and Rome and have always been pleased. I think the web site is https://www.romecabs.com. We send an email outlining our needs and get a reply in less than 24 hours. You can also call them directly.

I ran a one way from Florence to Siena and the cost was 450 Euros, not good. anything cheaper?

We used Day Trip in 2022, and would definitely use them again. In 2023, we used Blacklane in the UK, and they were fine as well. Blacklane makes it clear that tips are included in their rates. Blacklane operates in Italy - I checked.
I would also ask your hotels for their recommendations.

We used DayTrip in the Czech Republic and in Romania and will use them again in Italy in February. They provided exceptional service. Highly recommend.
