Recommendations for places to stay in Sorrento

We liked the Ulisse Deluxe Hostel. It's not really a hostel - we had a large, lovely room. The public areas are beautiful, and the price is a bargain. Our only complaint was they did not honor the RS discount that was shown in the Italy guidebook. The problem was, evidently, that the discount had been discontinued after the book went to press.

But we loved the hotel. It's in easy walking distance of all the major sights, as well as the beach. There are some great restaurants in Sorrento, but I don't know if they're open all year.

We stayed one December at Hotel Antiche Mura, a short walk from the train station and Piazza Tasso. It is a delightful city at Christmas, very festive. We were there in mid-December, but I understood from the hotel staff that the week after Christmas is very busy with holiday travelers. There were plenty of restaurants open.

We were pleased with La Magnolia BnB just off the main square. Price was excellent, location was convenient, pleasant breakfast, very clean. We enjoyed Chantecler's Trattoria. Family owned, great, friendly service, well priced wine. They said they would be open in December. Parrucchinano Garden was a large place with a immense, well tended garden and outdoor and solarium seating. We were very surprised at how busy they were. Food and wine was very good. We liked the Gelato at Gelateria Primavera.

We were just there (November 2 thru 6). They were putting up Christmas decorations including a huge tree in the town square. It looked like it would be very festive.

Although we didn't stay there in winter, another vote for Antiche Mura: great place.

We had a very good meal at Il Leone Rosso, Via Marziale 25, 80067, Sorrento, Italy. I'm seeing reviews out there from last Dec. so apparently they stay open over the winter.

Another vote for Chantecler’s. We were there in May so were able to sit outside under cover. Really good food and service.

We stayed at Grand Hotel de la Ville which was awesome but I don’t know if open in Dec
