Recommendations for nice hotel near Florence train station

Looking for nice hotel near train station in Florence for my husband and I that would also hold our luggage for afternoon. We leave Florence for Milan early evening for a night train to France.

A few years ago, I stayed at the Hotel Porta Faenza, on the Via Faenza. It's no more than a 10 minute walk from the station. It was a charming old building with very comfortable beds and friendly staff. A quick look at TripAdvisor confirms they have a locked area for luggage, so I think it would fit the bill. Also, since the city centre isn't very big, it was only a short walk to the Duomo, the Bargello and the Uffizi.

We can make two recommendations: A nice 3 star property on Via Faenza Mario's Hotel. We've stayed there several times and were always happy with the accommodation. Via Faenza is just three streets away parallel from the SMN station in the direction of Via Nazionale. The next property is the outstanding 4 star Hotel Albani Firenze on Via Fiume, which is just off of Via Nazionale. We spent a week there in 2013 and were very happy with its amenities. It is two streets parallel from SMN in the same direction as Mario's.

We were happy with both, so...go and have fun.

Buon viaggio,

We stayed at Hotel Mario's Easter weekend and were very pleased with the property. Very nice people, clean, decent breakfast. There are some good restaurant choices nearby, too. Check out Lob's Fish House on Via Faenza.

I recently stayed at Hotel Paris a block or so from the SMN train station, very comfortable.

Nearly every hotel will hold their customer's luggage after check-out. Many hotels recommended in Rick's guidebook are an easy walk from the train station. Another nice one that I stayed at with our tour (not in the book) is www.hotelpalazzodalborgo.it on Via della Scala.
