Recommendations for Lunch in Siena

My wife, two adult children and their spouses will be traveling from Tuscany to Florence in two weeks and will have about 4-5 hours to spend in Siena. There are 6 of us and we’re looking for a place to get a good, quick bite at a reasonable price in the vicinity of the central Piazza del Campo. We would appreciate any insight you might have. Thanking you in advance, Ciao!

There are pizza places galore - since you only have 5 hours total, getting takeout slices and continuing to wander could be a good option. I think the one I went to was Menchetti Siena, but I’m no longer sure.

Hi there,
the street food scene in Sienna is actually really good. Because you have so little time, it could be worth picking something up from a local market. They serve everything from Pizza to brioche rolls!

Hope this helps.

For a ‘temporary local’ experience, you could take your food to Il Campo and eat it there. Weather permitting, you could sit on the pavement.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a local specialty sandwich, a step up from pizza.

I stayed at B & B Alledueporte on Via Stalloreggi in early June. It's at the top of the hill, up a short way from Piazza del Campo. My host recommended that I try Osteria Nonna Gina, a local family run restaurant. She raved about it. I never got to try it because I was ready on a Monday, when they were closed. It was right around the corner from my B and B. It's at Pian dei Mantellini 2. Read the reviews, the food sounds delicious.

Ciao Robert: There is a very good panini place right in Il Campo called Panini Il Cencio. When facing the clock tower, it will be on your left. Also very good is Pizza San Martino. Thay have panini and pizza. To reach it, exit the Campo on Via Pantaneto (right next to Il Campo Panini) and walk about 2 blocks. It will be on the right.
