Recommendations for hotels in Naples

We will just briefly go to Naples to possibly visit the National Museum, eat some pizza and catch an early flight. I was thinking of changing our hotel. Any recommendations? I would prefer a shuttle to the airport instead of a taxi very early in the morning. Thanks! Ruth

I don't know if you'll find hotels that offer shuttles to the airport. Most can arrange one for you but a taxi for an early morning flight is usually the best solution. You can use venere.com to find hotels in Naples. Donna

If you want some good recommendations, change your subject line to "Is Naples Safe" and you won't believe the responses you'll get from Naples lovers! Seriously!

i'm not sure what you're looking for but I had a lovely stay at the Bellini 67 B&B for 4 nights, which is more like a family that rents rooms out of its home than a hotel but it's within walking distance of the Museum as well as some of the best pizza, and right by a taxi stand. Can't say I've ever taken a hotel-provided shuttle to the airport anywhere in the world so I can't help you find a place like that but I found this little B&B very friendly and relaxing (not to mention down right cheap) in a hectic city like naples. Right nearby in the same (nice) neighborhood, I've seen lots of mentions about the Hotel Piazza Bellini, which is larger and may provide shuttles. I just prefer staying at B&Bs in Europe so I can't provide first-hand knowledge. Naples is hugely underrated on this board, which may not be such a bad thing, as it leaves it for the rest of us ;) Enjoy!

Thank you both Donas and Debra for your helpful insights! I am thinking to keep our reservation at the Pinto-Storey Hotel after all in the Chiaia district. Rick recommends it in his book. It's supposed to be one of the safer areas of Naples. I found out we can take a pre-paid shutte for our 6:00am flight out of NAP. A very comforting nice plus is that we can wait inside. Buon Viaggio! Ruth, I stayed at Hotel Sweet Sleep just a few blocks from the train station. They have just remodeled the entire place and it's very nice on the inside (the entrance door is one of those little cut-outs, don't be put off by it). It's extremely reasonably priced.
