We will be arriving in Montepulciano in late June. This will be our home base. In recommendations for sites, wineries, restaurants etc.
Will you have a car? Just outside of the town is Poggio Etrusco, a very sweet agriturismo. We stayed 3 nights and toured the area.
We stayed in Casagrande outside of Montepulciano and enjoyed our stay. It may be weekly rental. It has a pool and was well cared for. www.casagrande.siena.it
One suggestion for accommodation: I've stayed twice in the Politian Apartments, at the "top" of the town. Lovely apartments, gracious hosts. They have a website with lots of accurate photos (in my experience). There was easy parking right outside, on the street. The hosts will give you a placard to put in your car which gives you parking rights. It's about 3 minutes downhill from there to getting out onto the "highway," if you are using Montepulciano as a base. However, one note: Although guests are provided with room fans, the apartments do not have air conditioning. I last stayed there in August 2016, though, which was a hot month, and I found that the breeze through the big windows, location at the top of the hill, and thick cool walls of the building were sufficient to keep us comfortable.
