Recommendations for a car & driver, not tour in Rome,Florence,Naples

Going to Europe in 6 weeks and would like to have recommendations for a car & driver in Rome, Florence & Naples. We want to avoid the preplanned advertised tours and excursions because of time limits.

Thank you,

Are you on a cruise that you need a car from the ship to the attractions within a limited time span? Otherwise I'm not sure why you'd want a car in a place like Florence or Rome where the main attractions are not accessible by car. A local guide who meets you for a walking tour might be more apporpriate. Or is Florence/Rome the base and you're looking for a driver for excursions to take you out of town?

Can you clarify?

We used Stefano Giusti on our trip to Italy last year for a day trip from Florence to San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, and Siena. Wonderful experience. Here is the link: http://www.stefanogiusti.com/

Highly recommend him. Very prompt and courteous. Spoke very good English. Pickup from bed and breakfast and drop back off at same. He really accomodated us with various requests during the time he drove us.

We have always had a good experience with just hiring a taxi driver for the day. We will start a conversation with the driver about all day, where to go, etc. Flat fee - off meter. Gives us an opportunity to check his English and his knowledge. Sometimes we will just do it for three or four hours depending and what we want to do.
