Recommendations for 4 day farm stay in Tuscany

We’re planning a trip to Italy next June. Four days in Lake Como, four in Tuscany, and four on the Amalfi Coast. We have made no reservations so far, would love suggestions for places to stay in Tuscany—maybe a farmhouse or a vineyard with beautiful views. Also would appreciate suggestions for the Amalfi Coast, not a place where a lot of steps are required. Thank you!

Just checking…you say “Four days in Tuscany, four in Tuscany, and four on the Amalfi Coast.” So is that 8 total days in Tuscany, or just 4, as your title says?

We’ve stayed twice in one of the two apartments at Chicca’s Casa Toscana. She also offers cooking classes and wine tours from her house, surrounded by olive trees and a huge garden. It’s in Tuscany, in the Bolgheri Super-Tuscan wine region, at the foot of the hilltown Castagneto Carducci. Either apartment is on the second floor of her home, so there are a few steps up a staircase on the outside, which leads to a porch with views. It’s also just inland from the ocean and the Etruscan Coast, so very different from Amalfi, but still not far from the sea. Her Website:

That’s what proofreading is for 🙃! I meant to say Four days in Lake Como, four days in Tuscany and four on the Amalfi Coast. Thanks for pointing this out!

We stayed at Castello di Verrazzano, just outside of Greve and had a wonderful time. It's a great winery sitting atop a hill with great views, though the accommodations are halfway down the hill with nice views looking up at the vineyard and winery.

Verrazzano was well located to visit the towns and countryside of Tuscany. It's right on the SS 222, or Chiantigiana Road.

Be sure to check as you search for agriturismos. You will be going during the height of tourist season and many have a week's minimum stay.

Have you traveled to Europe, especially Italy before? Does the time you've listed take into consideration traveling? If not, getting from one place to another will considerably cut into the time you've listed. It's over half a day from Lake Como to Greve and 15 hours from Greve to Amalfi. Greve to Amalfi is roughly the same distance as Baltimore to New York City. Amalfi will be very crowded and expensive in June. Personally, I'd cut it from the itinerary and split the time between Como and Tuscany, with the emphasis on Tuscany.

we stayed at Agritourismo Bonellino Vecchio just outside of Pienza last year and it was great. The hosts were warm and friendly, the accommodations were comfortable and very clean and the location was excellent. Easy trips to Pienza, Montalcino and Montepulciano via rental car. Sienna was about an hour away. The views of the countryside from your private patio were breathtaking.

Our favorite agriturismo was outside Siena. They have vineyards and make olive oil. The food was divine and they offer fun cooking classes. The name was Agriturismo Marciano. My 80 year old mother-in-law and I went there first. I loved it so much, I returned two years later with my husband and 18 year-old son. Hope you enjoy your trip.
