Recommendations: best neighborhood for our last night in Rome

Looking for recommendations for a neighborhood for our last night in Rome. We will be taking the train from Salerno arriving at 5:30pm. We have a 10am flight home the next day. We have decided to stay in Rome for our last night rather than near the airport so we can have a nice meal and just walk around. We will be in Rome for a week at the beginning of our trip staying between the Pantheon and Trevi so looking for a different area.

Would like a neighborhood on the west side of Rome to make the taxi to the airport easier. Looking for a spot with nice hotels, ideally under 250 euros and good restaurants within walking distance. This will be a Sunday night so I assume we’ll need dinner reservations.

Recommendations? Trastevere? South of the Vatican? I’m unfamiliar with that area so I may be missing a good spot. Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.

I'd suggest the Locanda Navona. It's a charming little hotel near the Piazza Navona. It is easy walking distance to so many things. You will love this hotel. We also stayed in the Hotel du Tori once, which is also near the Piazza Navona, and it was very nice. Having a 10:00am flight out will make it quite easy to reach FCO in time. There is a Taxi stand just outside the northeast side of the Piazza Navona too.

Trastevere would be nice for a last night
Lots of activity and many good restaurants

Taxi is 50 euros flat rate
Have your hotel call for one

I like to stay here in Trastevere, across the river from the city center.
They have roof bar, if you want to eat something there. The views are gorgeous, although the prices a bit high.
But there are numerous restaurants within 5 min walk. You can reserve a table at a restaurant the same evening before going, or just show up. On a Sunday night is not the same as a Saturday or Friday night. People have to work the next day (although Romans are not famous for being hard working, lol!). "Zia" is a top restaurant just a couple of minutes' walk away, albeit not the cheapest. "Alle Fratte" and "Rione 13" are good too.
Less than half hour from the airport by taxi (50 euro flat fare).

Jack, Christine and Roberto thank you. Trastevere does look like a good option

We stayed in Aventino our last two nights and ate in Testaccio both nights. Wonderful meals, a bit less crowded and touristy.
