Hi- I am traveling later this summer with my family and will be able to visit Rome for one day, as our ship will be docked in Civitavecchia. I don't want to go on the ship's excurions for a number of reasons. I'd prefer a private limo tour for the group of us. Do any seasoned travelers have recommendations? Thank you
Romecabs.com offers good, reliable service. Stefano is great.
I used Jimmy tours from the airport to Rome and return last year and they were great. I believe they also do private tours. The driver on both occasions spoke perfect english.
My sister took the Queen Mary 2 in May and that was one of her stops. She took the QM2 tour and did not get to see everything she wanted too. If you have a group I think your idea would be the best. When my mom and I were on a cruise in the Carribean we hired a private taxi for the day. My mom had a wheel chair. It was great. We had airconditoning. They drove us everywhere and anywhere we wanted and it came to the same price as the bus trip that wasn't air condioned, crowded, and had lots of steps she would have had a hard time with. Be sure to negotiate your price what is included BEFORE you get in. I am sure the recommendations given here as to who to hire will all be great for you and you can possibly make reservations with them before you leave on your trip.
Check out Italytravelservices.com. We used them for transfers from Civitavecchia to Rome, but their web site shows tours, also.
