Recommendation for relatively easy, scenic, kid-friendly hike/walk in Cinque Terre

Hi

We are staying in the Ligurian coast (near Camogli) the first week of July. Would love to take the train to Cinque Terre and do a kid-friendly walk/hike between two of the towns. Looking for something that is not much more than 2 miles since our younger one is not yet 4. Willing to double-back if need be but something scenic would be ideal so we get some of the flavor. Thanks!

One idea would be to train to Vernazza and hike toward Montorosso to take in the spectacular viewpoint over Vernazza or hike toward Corniglia to take in the other view over Vernazza. Or do both and turn around any time.

You would get the flavor of the hike without taxing a child.

I dunno--I can't imagine doing those walks with a child that young. While not exactly dangerous, they are steep. It will be blazing hot, and there will likely be a line of hikers passing you in both directions.
Since you will be in Camogli, the adjacent Portofino park has plenty of more relaxed--not to mention shaded--hikes. If you do not wish to blow your energy on the walk up to San Rocco (above Camogli, where the trail heads are), you can take a bus up, or you could take a ferry to SML and walk back.

We walked Monterossa to Vernazza. That trip really wore me out. During the last week of July it was hot, steep and crowded. I can't see doing it with a 4-year old. On the plus side, the views were inspiring and I resolved to exercise more and lose a little weight.

AFAIK, there is not much in the way of safety railings on these hikes and you are often close to the edge of a cliff. I am not sure I would try any with a 4 year old that might wander a little too close to the edge.

OK, good to know. Maybe best to see from the sea in a boat ride. If anyone has recommendations for that - let me know! And yes, would def be easier to do hike in the Portofino area since we are based there. If anything appropriate, let me me know!
