Recommendation for BnB or Pensione or even Hotels in Venice

We'll be in Venice (this) April 16 and departing sometime late afternoon of April 18th for Florence. I'm having a difficult time deciding WHAT area. I know I don't want to stay near St. Marks Square. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you!

For only two nights, I honestly wouldn't worry too much about it. I've been to Venice a few times. Last time I stayed near the train station, but it was for only one night. I generally wouldn't recommend that area, but it was perfectly fine and convenient to be so close to the train station, assuming you will arrive and/or depart from there. If you were staying a few nights longer, I might stay elsewhere.

Otherwise, go to Booking.com search for available hotels, and use the map feature to pick a place in your price range in a decent area.

hey vicki
you are pushing forward with this trip, yeah.
booking.com. don't know your budget you can check these out
hotel agli artisti
hotel san gerimia
hotel rossi
hotel henry
most are budget but you really don't need much for only 2 days. wear comfy shoes, lots of walking, getting "lost" you're on an adventure, zigging instead of zagging!!
if you have time check out schezzini.it, alessandro does a cicchetti bar tour, small bites, wine and histiry of venice. (destination360.com in search cicchetti tour), few years ago stayed a week before greek isle cruise, did meet and greet at bacaro jazz club with other cruisers. near rialto bridge and post office, known for bras being left there and they are hanging on walls and ceilings, so funny. my friend and i bought a big purple one put "sparkles and diamonds" on it was our donation, haha i know it's a tourist thing (we're tourists" but we took a gondola ride, picked up in back canals cross over grand canal, my friends daughter took video of us and we took a bottle of champagne with some plastic glasses to enjoy the atmosphere. think was 70E per ride.
you will have a great and fun time, enjoy and please do come back and let us know how this last minute trip was. only positive thoughts and spur of the moments.
aloha

Yes! We've almost finished figuring out this "last minute trip." Thanks for all the info. We were going to stay 3 nights, but I talked my hubby into 2+ staying a long 3rd day and taking a 5PM train to Florence so we'd have more time there. I'm all for visiting Venice in the winter months when WAY fewer people are there. It's already a busy time. Thanks again!!
