We are moving to Florence from April to June for two months and I want to suprise my girlfriend with swimming lessons. She is from India and has not learned how to swimg yet. For this reason I am looking for an english speaking swimming school or teacher in Florence. Can anyone help with that?

I would ask your landlord or inquire once you get there.

I would not assume pools will be open at your time there. It is possible they may be open, but they could still be closed due to covid prevention measures

Most of Italy is still under Lockdown conditions and no cross border travel is permitted. Have you organised permission to cross into Tuscany for your time? At the moment April looks very optimistic.

As we are travelling from Germany and are EU citizens (or respectively with permanent residency in Germany) we are allowed to enter Italy for any reason provided we can show a negative PCR test (not an issue since I already had corona and my girlfriend is vaccinated) and a declaration of entry, so it should be fine.

As far as I am aware, swimming pools have already opened again for education and competetion purposes, but correct me if I am wrong? The website of the local swimming school (which unfortunaly only provides training in italian) already is showing courses you can sign up too at least.

I think you might get a better answer if you look for a Florence expat community website/forum.

Tuscany is Orange covid zone.

Orange zones:

All the national rules will apply, plus:
Travel restrictions
People in orange zones will not be allowed to travel from one municipality to another, unless for essential reasons, by either public or private transport.

You can enter or leave an orange or red zone only for reasons of work, study, health or emergency, which must be justified using a self-certification form.
Business closures
Bars, cafes, restaurants, pastry shops and other food businesses must close to the public.

Home delivery is still allowed, and takeaway is permitted until curfew at 10pm.

Shops including hairdressers and bookshops will remain open.

I'm not entirely sure you understand the scope of the current restrictions.

Tuscany is currently in an ORANGE zone.
http://www.governo.it/it/articolo/domande-frequenti-sulle-misure-adottate-dal-governo/15638#zone
Even if you come from Bologna or even Pisa, you cannot go to Florence.

The website states:
"From January 16 to March 5 2021, in the orange area, it is permitted to move about within your Municipality, between 5.00 and 22.00, .... Movements to other municipalities are allowed only for proven work needs, situations of necessity or health reasons."

"The activities of gyms, swimming pools, wellness centers and spas are suspended, except for the provision of services falling within the essential levels of assistance for rehabilitation or therapeutic activities and for the training of athletes who must participate in competitions and events of national importance recognized by the Italian National Olympic Committee."

If after March 5, things change, ask again and I'll post where you can take swimming lessons.

Currently it is not possible due to the closures of swimming pools, even if you stealthily manage to enter the city (maybe hidden inside a container truck). You can try the river Arno, but it's kind of nasty.

Thank you for the information in regards to swimming lesson. Yes, I am aware of the restriction and moving to Florence is a valid reason to enter an orange zone as it is considered a "situation of neccessity".
