Can someone recommend a day trip to Matera from Bari?
Are you looking for a guided tour, or how to do it with public transportation, or are you hoping for an itinerary?
I am looking for a guided tour but would also consider doing it on my own.
I am looking for the name of the company of driver suggested to us in sorrento, and the amalfi coast. Father and son, REafael and Carmin. can anyone help
Sandy, start a new thread so you get notices of replies to your question.
mdreed, you can take a train or bus to Matera (about an hour), then either go to the sassi on your own, or take a mini-bus tour (not great), or hire a golf-cart. The path through the sassi is made of river rocks, so west good shoes for uneven pavements.
If you visit during the summer, it will be hot.
At any time of year, I would suggest an overnight stay so you can walk through the sassi early in the morning, and take the passeggiata in the evening.
