Recommend a good hostel

It's been awhile since I traveled in Europe, but I'm assuming hostels are still an inexpensive option. Is that still true? And can someone recommend one in Rome? Thanks.

It's been awhile but I stayed at the Beehive only one dorm room four bunk beds but a huge room plus a few private rooms. Was clean, friendly and had good food.

I second Wendy's recommendation of The Beehive. If they are full, ask them for recommendations.

eric,

A Hostel that I'd recommend in the Termini station area is Alessandro Palace. It's an easy walk from the station, the rooms are clean and fitted with modern electronic card locks, and they have a bar. Many rooms (if not all) have an ensuite. I usually get the four bed dorm, which was €35 per night last time I stayed there. As I recall, they only accept cash, which is payable at the time of check-in.

I wasn't overly impressed with the breakfast, but perhaps that has improved?

They have another property in the same area, Alessandro Downtown but I've never stayed there. Be sure to take a small but robust Padlock for the locker, a towel and perhaps some flip-flops.
