Check out Hotel Smeraldo.
I have stayed at the Hotel Navona several times. It is in a great location just off the Piazza Navona and is in walking distance of everything. There web site is hotelnavona.com.
I second the Hotel Navona.
Hi Fernando, Another recommendation is Hotel Alder. Wonderful place...centrally located, breakast included on a breakfast terrace, elevator, elegant lobby. Hotel offers 5% discount thru RS and gave us another 5% discount for paying upon booking which landed up saving us even more money when the Euro kept rising. We had a quad for 89 Euro per night....about $140.
The Hotel Aberdeen is as nice or nicer than any mentioned above and I know them all, plus it has the advantage of a better location AND the lovely ladies who owen and run it.

Notes: Run by Annamaria, Cinzia and Sabrina and little classier than Oceania.
check out this site freereservation.com and they have B&B's hotels, apartments to chose from all over rome. we are staying in the navona area in late october and we paid 321E for 4 nites and paid 49E for deposit and cash euros when we get there. good luck
Nicolas Inn is my favorite place to stay in Rome. Website: www.nicolasinn.com.
Hi Fernando--I second the Hotel Smeraldo. Use Rick Steves' name for a discount. Great location.
Fernando,
I'm in Rome right now and have been staying at L'incanto di San Pietro B&B. We're paying 466 Euros for 5 nights. It's about a five minute walk from the Vatican and a metro station. I highly recommend it. You can book it through www.Rome30.com

Fernando - Two words: Hotel Paba.
Thank you so much for all the suggestions. Some of these hotels don't have vacancies anymore (like Hotel Paba) but I can go to Hotel Nicolas which is in the same location. But I rather stay closer to the Campo de Fiori area. I'm waiting for a response from Hotel Nova and Smeraldo have space but they charge 1 nite non-refundable deposit if I cancel. I will let you know which one I picked once I confirm my reservation.
Hotel Palladium Palace is a five minute walk from the Roma Termini train station.
It's on Via Gioberti.
Also an easy walk to the Coloseum and Roman Forum.
We have stayed at the Hotel Oceania (in Rick's book) several times and loved the place each time. It is within easy walking distance of the central train station and easy walking distance to all the sites; even the Vatican if the weather is nice.
Check out Duca d'Alba, located right near the Cavour metro stop. I paid 170E/nt cash two weeks ago, so a bit over your budget, but may change depending on when you're travelling.
Thank you all for your suggestions.
I booked Hotel Navona. I hope I did the right choice.
Hey, Fernando. TripAdvisor.com gives Hotel Navona 3.5 out of 5 stars. Good reviews and pictures so take a look at what people had to say to be on the safe side.
