Recomendations for Florence

Hi all, I'm helping my sister and brother in law, as they (and I) know nothing about Florence. They are looking for a place to stay in the area between the Il Duomo and Arno. Their budget is between $100 and $150 a night. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance. Paul

We stayed at Hotel Ritz along arno river about 10 min walk to Duomo. This is not the 5 star ritz hotel chain.

I absolutely loved La Dimora Del Centro B&B. Location couldn't be more perfect, great hosts, good breakfast in a bar downstairs, and the price should fit into that budget.

I really liked hotel maxim. On main pedestrian street leading from Duomo to Uffizi, about 1/2 block from Duomo. On 3rd or 4th floor of an old building, with elevator (tiny). Same owners have another hotel in same building; haven't stayed at that one. One issue... you will hear the bells of the Duomo. I really liked that, but if they wouldn't appreciate it, they should go elsewhere. It is in their price range, and includes breakfast, as I remember.

We stayed at Hotel Bretagna which is on the Arno near Ponte Trinita. Five to ten minutes walking to all sites. Variety of room prices. Great views from some rooms and also from the reception room.

Try www.sleepinginflorence.com. We have not stayed there yet (leaving in 7days!!!!!) but the whole booking process could not have been easier! Gianna who is the owner of the apartments has been wonderful. I will be back home on Oct. 13 and will have more information about our stay then.

We just spent 1 nights at the Hotel Casci in Flornece and were very pleased. The rate for a triple was 130 Euros per night. Simple clean room with nothing fancy but very well located about 2 blocks from the Duomo and the San Lorenzo Market. The staff there is excellent and very helpful. The hotel is on the 4th floor of a building but there is an elevator.
