We were looking to stay on Lake Como, but all seems booked. Since we will be there early enough, we can continue on, but rather than just pick a place on the map, I thought I'd see if the RS community has any suggestions.
Well?
Thanks,
Pat

Using car or train? Have you tried Menaggio?
Sorry, I could have provided more info. We are driving. We will be traveling from Varenna to Castelrotto, and then south to Tuscany.
We have been unable to find a room in Como, so we thought we'd dinner in Como and drive on. This will be our 4th trip to Italy and we are not doing the Venice/Florence/Rome run. We will be only taking secondary roads and visiting smaller destinations.
Thanks for your reply,
Pat
Since you have a car, try the west shore of Lake Como. Menaggio, Dongo. and Gravedona are pleasant towns to stop and stay a while. Dongo is where Mussolini was captured at the end of WW II, and has a museum for that. Then drive east toward Sondrio. You can decide to head north to Bormio and then over the white-knuckle Stelvio Pass. to Merano, Bolzano, and Castelrotto. Or less challenging, east to the Paso Aprica and Paso Tonale to Bolzano and Castelrotto.
