Reasonably priced hotel in Rome Mid October

Looking for a reasonably priced hotel in Rome. Will be there for 4 nights in mid October. Located near tourist sights would be good. In an ideal world, full breakfast included or available to purchase. Thanks!

Hey Michelle,

In case you are not aware, October is still considered "high season." So you will be paying more; maybe not as much as May, June, July and August. Also, ask about a further discount if you paid in "euro" at the end of your stay.

Perhaps you can browse this thread >> https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/italy-reviews/staying-in-rome-b8116333-41a5-4fa4-a033-134db2d53186#bottom

It has a lot of good suggestions and first-hand experiences.

What you can do is check booking.com -- see what the prices are going for with hotels. Then I would book directly with the hotel. Most of the time, you will get a better deal. (I always book direct with the airline and hotels no matter where I am going.)

I would start with Booking.com to get a look at the types of hotels available. You can read the reviews and see where each hotel is located. Since mid October is about a month away, I would book soon.

What is "reasonably priced" to you? Not the same for all!

Booking .com is your friend. Set your filters to area you'd like to stay- we always stay near Pantheon- very central, walkable to almost al sights- then whatever amenities you require and set your price range.

Check Panda Hotel down the street from Spanish Steps. No breakfast. We got American coffee and Danish from the near by McDonalds. We had room overlooking street and loved opening window and people watching.

We stayed at Hotel Smeraldo last week for three nights. The location was terrific, within walking distance to historic sites and near to several fun piazzas for people watching while enjoying an aeperol spritz. Have fun!

I second the Smeraldo...stayed there for three nights. Walk to Pantheon area, Victor Emmanuel monument, Capitoline Museum, etc. Close to the transportation hub of Largo di Torre Argentina for buses and metro. Rates also include a substantial breakfast.

Try and get a room in the main hotel not the Annex; the single rooms had a small terrace with great views across the rooftops. There are a couple of decent restaurants nearby and a superb deli/bakery at the end of the street.

Another vote for Smeraldo Hotel. Great location, we walked everywhere. Very good buffet breakfast. Awesome bakery across the street: Roscioli.

In August my wife and I stayed in a place mentioned in the 2019 Rick Steves guide. Other than weak (if adequate) Wi-Fi, it was very nice. Run by Dominican sisters, and there is a curfew: midnight to 6am. Simple but good breakfast included. Located in Monti neighborhood. 15 minute walk from Rome Termini train station. 5 minute walk to bus stop for going to Vatican. 10 minute walk or less to Roman Forum and Colosseum. 15 minute walk to Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and Pantheon. Very kind staff, very clean, and reasonably priced. Many good small restaurants within 5 minute walk.
