Reasonably priced and centrally located hotel in Milan?

Hello, We are staying in Milan for one night during our two week trip to Italy this September (September 20th). I have been having an extremely difficult time finding a decently priced hotel that is located either near the train station or near a metro stop (within a few stops of the Duomo) for 150 Euros per night or less. I found a few recommendations on the helpline, but all were booked on the 20th. We aren't too picky; aside from being centrally located and near a metro line, we want a private room with private bath that won't break the bank. Any recs? I am going crazy looking! Thank you, Jennifer

I stayed at the Hotel King. It was a short walk from a metro station and near the Duomo. I do not remember the cost but is was much less than 150 euros.

Try using venere.com or tripadvisor.com for hotel choices. Each website will provide hotel choices, pricing, map locations, and client reviews. We always stay at the Hotel Berna on Via Napo Torriano located about 500 meters from the Stazione Centrale. it is a 4 star property and it is really nice. It serves the largest and best breakfast in Milano. You can find this place on venere and they have their own website. Buon viaggio,

As RB stated aboveTry Hotel Berna. www.hotelberna.com In July 2009 on a girl's trip to Italy we were flying home from Milano and needed a hotel for just one night. Hotel Berna is really nice and very conveniently located just a couple blocks from Milano Centrale with a metro stop just down the street so very easy to get to Duomo, etc. We had a triple and a double room, priced 135 Euros and 110 Euros respectively, located in the main hotel. There is an annex right across the street. They were both in the "superior" category and included an amazing breakfast buffet with everything you can imagine. I booked mid-June for our stay on July 22 and got a discount but would have been charged for any cancellation. Would stay here again! Let me know if you have any questions. Buon Viaggio!

There must be something goin on im Milan that week as all of the hotels look high-priced. The 4-star business hotels I considered for our last trip are priced at more than double what we would have paid for a night in July 2010. Even the recommended Hotel Berna is 184,50 euro for their lowest-priced room. I'd taek the suggestion to try venere.com or the multi-search Tripadvisor for your date, and have the options sorted by price. Then you'll have to check the location for the likely suspects, and/or come back here and ask about them.

I'm trying a place on the nights of March 9th and 10th that Rick used to have in his books. It's called Hotel Valley and they've been very helpful in their e-mails. If you can hold out until after I've stayed there I'll let you know what I thought of it. It's near the Duomo and, for Milan, quite cheap. I had a hard time finding a place too and I'm landing right at the edge of the off-season.

I had the same problem when I was trying to find a place to stay for 1 night too, when I went in November. They would not do one night stays or the rooms were extremely expensive. I settled on Hotel Star. NIce hotel, cheesy murals, good breakfast, nice jacuzzi tubs. I think our room was 130 euros, but it was at the end of November.

I often look at HostelWorld and CheapAccomodation. HostelWorld has much more than hostels and they're easy to work with. These sites tend to offer different choices than some of the other sites that have been mentioned. (And sometimes the lower priced hotels aren't all booked up during trade fairs and the like.)

Thanks everyone for your replies and advice! I took one of the poster's recommendations and did a search on Trip Advisor by date and neighborhood. Although there weren't many options under €300 Euro per night in the center of town, I managed to book a room at Hotel Romana for €126.65 and saved 15% by paying in advance. Thanks again! Jennifer
