Need reasonable places to stay in Turin near train station. Suggestions fro restaurants and a place to rent a car.
Although it's a bit of a walk, we stayed at the Best Western Hotel Crimea. It's an excellent value, in a quiet area. Rooms are small but spotless and well appointed. Breakfast was excellent, too.
We really liked the Hotel Victoria in Turin. According to their website, it's only 700 yards from the Porta Nuova, Turin's main train station.
I don't know what you mean by reasonable but about 5 weeks ago we stayed for 7 nights at and liked the Gran Mogol. Some of the rooms are on the small side but they were clean and well appointed and the staff friendly. We were able to walk to everywhere in the city centre from there. It is less than 5 minutes walk from the station and right next to the pedestrianised area.
I was last in Turin in 1998, but I stayed at the Roma and Rocca Cavour, on the Piazza Carlo Felice, a park just north of the station. The rooms were huge (there are three sizes and we stayed in the largest), and the prices were reasonable on weekdays and even more so on weekends. It was an old "train station hotel" back when those were glamorous, and so it had faded a bit, which was part of the charm. I have no idea if it's gone up, gone down, or stayed the same in the intervening years, but if I go back to Turin, it's the first place I'd look into. Here's their website.
DuParc suites, 5 min walk to metro, then 5 min to train station.
I hate at these 3 places and they were all very good.
