Will be in Florence two nights - Oct 19-20 - Train in from Pisa/CT on the 19th evening and train out early morning on the 21st. Please suggest reasonable places to stay for two adults (males) with convenient access to metro. Thanks.
The appropriate Rick Steves guidebook will provide a list of reasonable options for you. If you do not want to buy it, check it out from your local library.
Jayant try Hotel Accademia. www.hotelaccademiafirenze.com Usually rent apartments here for longer stays but in Oct. 2011 we were only here 2 nights so stayed at Hotel Accademia. It is an easy ten minute walk from the train station and a few steps from the entrance to the Medici Chapels. Would stay here again. Have a great trip!
I agree with RS guidebook to start with. It took me to Hotel Alessandra, a block off the Arno and close to Ponte Vecchio. 10-15 minute walk from SMN station.
We have stayed at Hotel Casci twice and you could not ask for a better location and service...The price is also very reasonable..The family that owns and manages this hotel are the most accommodating hotel people ever. The breakfast is wonderful..We left early in the morning and one of them was up to see us off..The service was perfect both times we stayed there.
There is no metro (underground) in Florence. The train station (Santa Maria Novella) is in the city center. About ten minutes' walk away is the Hotel Medici, very reasonable with a rooftop terrace view of the Duomo.
You've asked this question for about 5 different cities and yet you don't explain what you consider "reasonable" as far as price goes. Do you mean under 100 euros per night, under 200 euros per night.....This will be a huge determining factor as to where and what type of accommodation you get. Donna
We booked at the Cerretani Firenze. Its about a 10min walk from SMN train station. I dont know what reasonable is though.
Another vote for Hotel Casci- for all the reasons stated above!
See Booking.com. You can filter the Florence hotels by price ranges. With 714 properties listed, you can easily find something that'll suit you.
You're cutting the city short with only 1 real day there. It's easily a 4 day destination.
