My husband and I will be in Rome for two days in June before disembarking on a cruise. We are looking for a hotel that is in a good location to walk to as many tourist attractions as possible in the short time that we have there! Any hotel recommendations? Has anyone stayed at Charme Spagna hotel by any chance?
Find a hotel close to a metro station or close to a taxi stand. Rome is big and although I usually do it on foot, most people will benifit from a lodging near a metro stop or taxi stand. J
Use Booking.com
Set your filters for location, price, amenities, etc
Read the reviews there
You can book on booking.com or the hotel website
One that is mentioned here a lot is Hotel Smeraldo
Everyone’s “reasonably priced” is different
There are a lot of cheap hotels near the train station Roma Termini - but its a pretty seedy place. There were a few good restaurants surprisingly but a really bad one too - so check reviews before eating.
From there, its about 15 minute walk to the coliseum. We walked to the fascist monument which is pretty impressive, we walked to the Spanish steps, and the Pantheon - all in a day.
Define reasonably priced.
Virtually all Rome’s tourist attractions are close to one another.
We stayed at Navona 49 this month. Rooms start at around $200. Awesome location and great view onto Piazza Navona. Spotless inside the units. Great staff.

Rome is not exactly a walking city. It's best to learn how to navigate the buses and it's easy to get around to the popular tourist sights.
You can go to Google Maps for Piazza Navona and hit the block "hotels". All the available accommodations will pop up as icons with the room rate. You'll find something.
Hmmm, David. Everyone is different but we consider Rome very definitely to be a "walking city". We've walked all over it, and only felt the need to jump on public transit (metro + light rail) a couple of times over a couple of trips. IMHO, unless one has mobility challenges, the very best way to experience this particular city is on one's own two feet.
But yes, ydstanbury, as we don't know what a reasonable price is for you, best to explore your options via the filters on Booking.com, as Christine has suggested.
We walked to the fascist monument which is pretty impressive,
And what monument would that be, RailRider? Certainly not Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II?
Our last time there we stayed at Hotel Smeraldo. It’s at Campo de Fiori, but that’s very close to Piazza Navona. While spread out, we found Rome to be very walkable.
"Reasonable" is a wide ranging term. My idea of reasonable is different than most, and includes things other than cost, at least one other believes $200/night is reasonable, have seen some on here where $300/night is lower end. So if you have an idea of what you want to pay, indicate that.
I agree with the tip to use booking.com, you will see a wide array of prices and types of lodging, and what they offer for amenities.
Piazza Navona is fine for a target area, everyone has their preference for neighborhood, mine is the Trastevere for example, but there is no right or wrong. I will say, pick your place to stay based on restaurants and evening life, you can walk or take public transport to the various sights, but in the evening, it is nice to have a decent area to stroll and a choice of smaller restaurants near your lodging.
Probably referring to the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana
I considered that, periscope, but it's not what I'd call walking distance from Termini, both ways. You'd be hard pressed to trek out to that one, and then back to the Pantheon, Spanish Steps and Colosseum in a day, as stated.
Wow, thank you so much for all of your responses! I am a first timer on this forum so I had no idea what to expect! I apologize now for asking a question with the words "reasonably priced".
No need to apologize and welcome to the forum!
When you post always try to provide as much info/ specifics as you can. Helps us give you the best advice.
We find Rome very walkable as well. Have actually never used bus, tram or metro there. Taxi only to/ from station and once for our early am Vatican tour.
Our favorite target area is near the Pantheon.
Charme Spagna is an OK location, but that area is mostly high end shopping. Not as many cafes/ restaurants as you’ll find the area near Pantheon/ P Navonna.
Good to know, Christine! Thank you!
Do you have any recommendations for hotels in that area of Rome?
We have enjoyed 2 stays at this hotel
Love the roof terrace, location, staff and great breakfast
Not sure if it suits your budget

Another is Hotel Regno, right on the Corso
Under renovation now but maybe open for your dates

With only two nights, you will only be scratching the surface, so a very central hotel makes the most sense.
Perhaps near the Pantheon, or near the Colosseum.
I stayed at Hotel Centro Cavour Roma recently and found it quite lovely. http://www.hotelcentrocavour.it/
The rooms were clean, comfortable and the breakfast was good. It's a couple of blocks away from a metro station and very close to the forum and colosseum. Lots of good restaurants around as well
