Hello! Can anyone recommend a BnB or clean, sweet, low key place for a solo F traveller near Lago di Como for a couple of nights? I’ve been to Lago di Como before (2009) and we stayed in Varenna which is now quite costly. Personal recommendations warmly welcome.

I’m looking for a particular place ( or website) that would give me some particular places recommended by Rick Steves travelers.

Maybe out of geographical range of what you're looking for, but last year I stayed at Huonder House in Lecco. Beginning 18 years ago, we gave preference to vacation rentals over hotels for our yearly travels. This is one of the "sweetest" and best-value places I've ever stayed in Europe. Admittedly, Lecco isn't exactly in the center of the Lake Como action, but it has a lot to recommend it.

We stayed at B&B Le Eriche a few years ago and will be staying there again in just a few weeks. The couple that run it are wonderful and provide a great breakfast. The views from the terrace are beautiful. A car is probably necessary to get to it though. But it's not far from Menaggio.

The towns that are served by the frequent mid-lake shuttle ferries are Varenna, Menaggio, Bellagio, Cadenabbia. All others are served by the less frequent boats that serve up and down the lake.
Of the 4 towns above, you are more likely to find reasonable accommodations in Menaggio.

We found some beutiful places that we are staying at in early April in Lierna, just 10 minutes south of Varenna. Easy access to Varenna, the ferries and then down to Lecco. Check out AirBnB as the places are great.
